Domain Authority Decrease: Where Gone My DA, I’m Surprised, Are You Too? Read Here
If you are an owner of a website or two, Domain Authority is something that you might have been caring about a lot. Whether it is about increasing the possibility of ranking your website or differentiating your website as a trusted one over the large ocean of the internet, Domain Authority plays a very important role.
I personally own four websites, of which two websites are concerned with daily blog posts on tech and trends.
For the last 1 year, I had been working hard to improve the Domain Authority of my website, by exercising all necessary efforts. Suddenly one day in June 2022, I saw the DA of my website decrease.
I was a bit surprised as the target I wanted to achieve was increasing the DA of my website, certainly to a halt. The decrease in DA of my website again forced me to analyze loopholes in my website. In spite of the increasing DA of my website, it decreased. I am a person who believes in finding solutions to such problems as soon as possible. From that moment, one strange thing clicked in my mind. I suddenly started checking the Domain Authorities of some other websites including my competitors.
The research gave me a sigh of relief. DA of those competitors whom I was monitoring for a year was also affected badly. One of the websites lost its DA by 15 points. So why does it happens! Obviously, there would have been some update, either from google or from MOZ. Yes! I was right so let's see what was the exact reason behind the Domain Authority decrease.
Why does domain Authority decrease?
Sure, domain authority drop causes anxiety; I'm guilty of it too. But it happens to everyone, and it usually happens at the same moment to all of us. This just means that Google is recalibrating (which they do hundreds of thousands of times a day), and either you or everyone else will remain at the new level.
Let's talk about
why these variations happen, why you shouldn't be concerned, and how to tell if
it's more than Google re-calibrating. It's perfectly natural for your domain
authority to change over time. While we all strive to give the most relevant
information possible to ensure that it continues to rise, we frequently observe
a decline. That's fine!
You'll notice a difference whenever Google re-calibrates or Moz refreshes its index.
Which pages are crawled and what has changed on the web determine whether the change is favorable or negative (such as a Google algorithm shift). It's not a big deal if you lose a number of points, especially if your rival does as well.
Start tracking your competitors' domain authority now if you haven't already. This will allow you to remain calm in the event of a drop.
How to increase Domain Authority?
To increase domain authority, you must obtain links from high-value sites—those with a domain authority greater than yours. If you're doing that—and creating fresh content on a regular basis—you're unlikely to observe a drop when no one else is. If, on the other hand, your domain authority falls as your competitor rises, it's time to panic.
